Road Clean Up is set for Saturday, July 31st, 2010 at 8:15am

Dear Friends / Good Neighbors,

Our next Road Clean Up is set for Saturday, July 31st at 8:15AM. Meeting location: Entrance to Chadwick Shores neighborhood. Area to be cleaned: From the entrance of Chadwick Shores along Chadwick Acres Road up to Old Folkstone Road. I will have vests, pick sticks, bags & water. Please wear bug spray and work boots (or whatever good foot protection you have). Unfortunately, I do not have emails for all of our neighbors. If you would please peruse the To: list and forward this email to any one residing in Chadwick Shores or along Chadwick Acres Road that is not on my list - especially those with teenagers! I would love to see the teenagers in our neighborhood help with this community service project. I will even give them an official letter so they can use it toward their high school community service hours requirement. Please let me know if you are able and available to come out and help Cameron, Maddie and I. If not, please forward this.

SUMMER DAY CAMP REGISTRATION
Featuring a new six week educational and fun program

The Onslow County Parks and Recreation Department and the Onslow County Board of Education are sponsoring a Summer Day Camp Program at various school sites. Campsites are: Dixon Middle School, Southwest Middle, Swansboro Middle, Hunters Middle and Summersill Elementary School. Registration will take place at Onslow Pines Park every Thursday in May starting with May 6 from 1 – 6 PM. Session I will be held June 21 – July 9 Monday – Friday 7:45- 5:15 PM Session II camp runs July 12-July 30 Cost is $85 per child per three week session with each additional child from the same family paying only $75 per child. BICYCLE RODEO
Featuring a New Location with a Beginners & Advance Skills Course

The Onslow County Parks & Recreation Department, Jacksonville Kiwanis Club, Kiwanis Club of Onslow County, The Bicycle Shop, Coastal Plains Raceway Park, Onslow County Sheriff’s Department, Jacksonville Police Department, Onslow County CHIP Prevention Committee and VFW Post 9133 will sponsor a Bicycle Rodeo for children ages 4-14 on Saturday, May 15, 2010. The rodeo will be held at Coastal Plains Raceway Park. The event will be from 9:00 am to Noon. Event includes minor bike repairs, helmet fitting, and bike skills course and bike registration. ON SHORE SURF CAMP

Onslow County Parks and Recreation and On Shore Surf Shop will be offering a Surf Camp for Beginners and Intermediates. Camp begins May 17 – August 21, 2010 times for the camp are Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturdays 9:30 am – 11:45 am. The 2.25 hour camp will be $60.00 per camper. Limited to 6 campers per session the camp will be held at Beach Access #2, 2950 Island Drive, North Topsail Beach. KIDS GOLF: DRIVE, PITCH & PUTT

The Onslow County Parks and Recreation Department, Jacksonville Country Club, Dick’s Sporting Goods, First Citizens Bank & BB&T are sponsoring a Kids Golf Competition (Punt, Pass & Kick of Golf) on Sunday, May 23, 2010 at Jacksonville Country Club. Registration begins at 3:00 p.m. Contest begins at 3:30 p.m. Individual competitions open to all junior golfers, up to 17, and graduating High School Seniors. There are 4 age divisions for both Boys & Girls and a unique handicap system allows kids to compete against one another. The cost of the contest is FREE! MUSIC IN THE PARK

The Onslow County Parks and Recreation Department, and the NC Arts Council are sponsoring “Music in the Park” series. The two concerts are held at the Richlands Steed Park May 22, 2010 (The Fabulous Rhythm Rangers) and Stump Sound Park June 12, 2010 (The Tokin Blues Band). Times of each concert are 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm. Join us for a variety of music, concessions and a moonwalk for the kids! Concerts are free and open to the public. Pack up the family; bring lawn chairs and blankets. This program is funded by the North Carolina Arts Council, a State Agency, and awarded through the Jacksonville/Onslow Council for the Arts.
